American Studies Takes on Tucson, Arizona!
During Spring Break 2026, 15 American Studies majors headed southwest to the desert for an experiential learning adventure in Tucson, Arizona. Led by Tucson native, Professor Gerry Cadava along with Professor Kathleen Belew, and Carlos Ballinas the group spent 4 days exploring all facets of Tucson. It was an exceptionally hot stretch of weather but the group rose to the occasion and hiked Sabino Canyon, visited the Titan Missile Museum, San Xavier and Yoemem Tekia Foundation Museum, the Desert Museum and the Biosphere at University of Arizona. In addition they enjoyed some authentic southwest cuisine and had downtime cooling off in the pool It was a unique bonding experience for the cohort and special memories were made that will last a lifetime.
